Exploration
In the Prominent Hill region, OZ Minerals has 4,000 square kilometres of tenements in its own right and access to 3,000 square kilometres of tenements through the joint venture with IMX Resources Limited (OZ Minerals 51 percent). Our most important exploration project is to identify further Prominent Hill-style deposits.
OZ Minerals commenced exploration in Cambodia in 2006. The most advanced area is the Okvau project in Mondulkiri Province. After concluding that the Cambodian assets did not fit with OZ Minerals’ strategy in regard to scale and our overall preference for mid-tier copper projects, OZ Minerals signed an agreement, in February 2012, to sell these assets.
OZ Minerals is seeking to commence exploration drilling on the Providencia project in Santa Cruz County, Arizona, USA. The project is located in the Laramide Metallogenic District, known to host many world-class porphyry deposits.
During 2011, OZ Minerals withdrew from the Pichasca project in Chile and the San Eduardo project in Mexico.
Equity interests
