Copper Sculpture Award

Two important aspects of South Australian life ‘Copper’ and the ‘Arts’ have come together in the OZ Minerals Copper Sculpture Award.

As part of the South Australian Living Arts Festival (SALA) OZ Minerals has launched a Copper Sculpture Award to support artists who work in copper or who would like to work in copper.

The Award works like an arts commission. One South Australian artist will be given the opportunity to create a work of art using copper for the 2012 SALA Festival. Artists will be able to apply for materials and $500 to help with production costs. Some assistance will be provided for transportation of the copper to the artists and assistance will be provided to transport the finished artwork to the exhibition space.

Winners of the ‘Award’ will have until June 2012 in which to create their works.

Mei Sheong Wong was announced as this year's winner of the OZ Minerals copper sculpture award on Tuesday 9 August 2011.
