Pandurra, South Australia
Ownership: 100% Black Tiger Resources Limited, OZ Minerals Earn-In
Location: Gawler Craton in South Australia.
Target: IOCG Copper – Gold
The Pandurra project became part of our portfolio in early 2021 when we entered into a binding Heads of Agreement with Black Tiger Resources Limited for a Farm-in to Joint Venture. As part of the ExploreSA challenge, geomechanical modelling and machine learning within a mineral systems framework were combined to identify targets.
The project is on the southern margin of the Gawler Craton, South Australia, on the northern portion of the Eyre Peninsula. The project targets IOCG mineralisation like Carrapateena and Prominent Hill copper mines.
Pandurra is the first agreement generated by the Drillanthropy initiative. Drillanthropy was created by our Exploration team as a way to use the power of the crowd, along with data science to extend OZ Minerals' project generation toolkit and find new exploration targets
Drilling is planned for 2023 following the completion of heritage surveys and obtaining other statutory approvals.
Mt Woods, South Australia
Ownership: 100% OZ Minerals
Location: Prominent Hill
Target: IOCG copper-gold
We’re looking for new copper deposits to supplement the Prominent Hill feedstock, to increase our confidence that it can a long-term, reliable asset delivering modern minerals.
We’re targeting satellite IOCG deposits along strike from Prominent Hill across the southern boundary of the Mt Woods Inlier. The Exploration team continue to assess the potential for IOCG-style mineralisation and has expanded the exploration toolkit to include data science and machine learning techniques to identify areas of interest that may have been overlooked previously.
Recently, our exploration strategy has expanded to target ISCG mineralisation across the project's central and northern portions, which remain relatively underexplored. In 2021, a helicopter-supported airborne Electromagnetic Survey identified multiple targets within the central and northern regions, followed by ground electromagnetic surveys. We aim to drill these targets in 2023.
Stuart Shelf, South Australia
Ownership: 100% OZ Minerals
Location: Gawler Craton, Carrapateena Province, South Australia
Target: IOCG copper-gold
The Stuart Shelf Project consists of 13 Exploration Licences (ELs) in a geological domain called the Olympic Copper-Gold Province, surrounding the Carrapateena Mine Lease.
Previous exploration activities have focused on improving the understanding of Carrapateena and two satellite deposits, Khamsin and Fremantle Doctor. We’ve recently begun testing new targets with similar geophysical fingerprints to Carrapateena. Our team uses various conventional and unconventional techniques, such as Ambient Noise Tomography and Heat Needles, to identify and test copper targets.
In early 2022, the team completed gravity and passive seismic surveys in the northern part of the tenements to help prioritise existing targets and detect new targets. Targets underwent drilling at the end of 2022, with Exploration aiming to discover standalone or high-value satellite deposits.
Coompana, South Australia
Ownership: 100% OZ Minerals
Location: Coompana Province
Target: Nickel, copper
Coompana rests between South Australia's Gawler Craton, the Musgrave province and Madura province, all regions known to host economic nickel and copper mineralisation. This region is underexplored due to basin cover sediments, increasing the difficulty of testing and identifying targets.
Red Metal multi-site exploration alliance, Western Australia
Ownership: OZ Minerals Earning 51%
In January 2019, OZ Minerals entered an exploration alliance with Red Metal Limited to significantly increase our exploration footprint in Australia. The alliance gives OZ Minerals the option to fund a series of mutually agreed, proof-of-concept work programs on three of Red Metal's early-stage projects.
Yarrie
Location: Paterson Province, Western Australia
Target: Copper-gold-cobalt
Exploration aims to target giant copper and copper-gold systems similar to Winu and Nifty. By partnering with Red Metal, our Exploration and Growth team were able to secure the opportunity and begin to learn more about the Project.
After the initiation of the alliance, a significant historic and open-source data review was put into action by Red Metal and OZ Minerals. This led to the development of a plan to explore the Yarrie Project using the best available techniques and technologies. The site underwent an airborne electromagnetic survey in 2021, with targets identified for drilling in 2023.
Gulf
Location: North-west Queensland
Target: Copper-gold
The Gulf Project targets IOCG breccia systems within the Mount Isa inlier in North-western Queensland. Renowned for being incredibly rich in mineralisation, the world-class province hosts several significant deposits, including the IOCG Ernest Henry deposit and the Eloise ISCG deposit. The alliance views the project as an under-explored extension of the Cloncurry terrain, similar to that hosting the large Ernest Henry deposit.
The alliance has identified several discrete magnetic and gravity features in interpreted suitable host rock. Proof-of-concept drill tests on two magnetic targets under 400m of sedimentary cover were completed in 2021. As of late 2022, four standout gravity and magnetic targets underwent proof-of-concept drill tests.
Lawn Hill
Location: Northern Queensland
Target: Copper / Zinc-lead-silver
The alliance is targeting new zinc deposit styles near the giant Century zinc-lead-silver deposit in Northern Queensland aiming to identify more than one giant base in the Lawn Hill region. The Lawn Hill project has undergone deep penetrating, magneto-telluric (MT) surveying with further geophysical surveys planned to refine targets for drill testing in 2023.
Wollogorang
Ownership: Resolution Minerals Ltd, OZ Minerals Farm-In up to 51%
Location: McArthur Basin, Northern Territory.
Target: Copper
The Wollogorang project was added to OZ Minerals' portfolio in Q3 2021 with the aim of finding economic sediment-hosted copper deposits in the area.
Versatile Time Domain Electromagnetic (VTEM) geophysical surveys identified several anomalies representing favourable host rocks for copper mineralisation. Conceptual sediment-hosted copper targets were drilled in late 2022.
The Exploration team continues to look for potential sites with similar sediment-hosted copper in the McArthur Basin and neighbouring basins/sub-basins.
Benmara
Ownership: Resolution Minerals Ltd, OZ Minerals Farm-In up to 51%
Location: Barkly Tablelands, Northern Territory.
Target: Sediment-hosted base metal deposits
The Benmara project was added to OZ Minerals' portfolio in Q2 2022. Complementary to the nearby Wollogorang project, the JV targets sediment-hosted base metal deposits and is prospective for copper and cobalt. In recent years, new studies found Benmara to be older than previously thought and therefore was deemed stratigraphically and temporally equivalent to the Walford Creek Deposit and Century Mine.
In 2021, Resolution Minerals Ltd completed proof-of-concept drilling, intersecting geological units equivalent to the Walford Creek deposit, which is along strike from Benmara. The drilling of geophysical targets generated by surface and ground surveys is planned for the first half of 2023, following the completion of heritage surveys and obtaining other statutory approvals.
Peake and Denison
Ownership: Demetallica Ltd, OZ Minerals Farm-In up to 51%
Location: Peak and Denison inlier, Northeast South Australia
Target: Copper-Gold
The Peake and Denison project was added to OZ Mineral's portfolio in Q4 2021 after entering a farm-in joint venture agreement with Demetallica. The JV targets large IOCG deposits by searching for dense and magnetic anomalies in the northeast of South Australia on the far Eastern margin of the Gawler Craton.
The location sparks interest as the area displays the critical mineralisation ages of both the Gawler Craton and the Mount Isa Inlier. The Gawler Craton hosts the Olympic IOCG province, while the Mount Isa Inlier hosts the rich copper-gold Cloncurry terrain.
Drilling of geophysical targets generated by surface and ground surveys kicked off in Q2 2022. Q4 of 2022 has since seen OZ Minerals commit to stage 1 of the JV agreement to earn a 51% interest. OZ Minerals may earn up to 70% interest in the project.
